Working through the low season

The Brahmaputra moves its channels between monsoons, and a hull that needs a metre and a half of water for half the year is a hull that stops earning. The same river that decides how our clients’ vessels are designed decides how we build them.

When the water is down, the bank is workable. Frames go out, plate gets cut, and the heavy fabrication that wants dry ground underneath it happens in the months when there is dry ground to be had. Fit-out and finish carry on through the wet.

It is the reason our first question on any project is the route rather than the drawing. Tell us where a vessel will run and what she has to carry, and the build programme follows from the river.
