The Grand Shikara takes her shape on the bank

The Grand Shikara is a shikara-form passenger vessel being built for Brahmaputra Shikara Xpress at Guwahati. She is the first of the three vessels on our project list still on the stocks, and the hull is now far enough along that her profile is readable from the road.

She is being fabricated where she will float, a few metres from the water. Frames were set out on the bank, plate cut and welded on site, and the superstructure is being raised in the open. Nothing is trucked in finished. When the river comes up, the vessel is already where she needs to be.

The next stages are fit-out and finish, then survey and trials before handover. We will post again when she is in the water.

Tell us about the river, and what you need to carry on it.

Send us the outline of your project. It reaches us on WhatsApp and we will come back to you with the next question, not a brochure.
